FS Leader

With a First-Class BA Hons Degree in Outdoor Education and a Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Education, complete with Qualified Teacher Status, I bring a strong educational background to our team. In addition, I hold a Forest School Leader Level 3 qualification and boast expertise in Paddle-sports, Climbing, and Hill Walking.

My professional journey has been marked by a rich and diverse range of experiences. I've worked with various outdoor activity providers throughout the stunning Lake District, where I've had the privilege of guiding and mentoring teenagers, helping them make meaningful progress in the nationally recognized 'National Citizen Service' program. I've also taken charge of summer holiday camp programs for Windermere School and worked closely with children and young people in residential crisis care. Collaborating with schools and nursery groups, I've delivered engaging Forest School programs. My background also includes teaching in primary schools and providing learning support, both in group settings and on a one-on-one basis.

Over the years, I've been fortunate to embark on incredible adventures that have led me to captivating and exciting places. These experiences have allowed me to work alongside remarkable individuals who have played a pivotal role in shaping my professional journey by sharing their skills, pedagogy, and deep knowledge of the great outdoors. My adventures include working in North America with Camp America, where I had the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children from New York City. I've hiked the Long Trail, a part of the Appalachian Trail in the USA, and engaged in thrilling activities like snowboarding, dog sledding, and snowshoeing in Canada. My road trips across France have also been memorable. More recently, I've focused on adventures closer to home, including canoe expeditions and mountain biking in Scotland, mountain walking in Scotland, Wales, and the Lake District, caving in the Dales, climbing in the Lake District, and undertaking wild camping and bushcraft expeditions around the UK. All of these experiences fuel my passion for working and teaching in the great outdoors.

In my professional role, I'm committed to furthering my work with children and young people, particularly those facing challenging behaviours and emotional needs. I firmly believe in the educational and therapeutic potential of the outdoors, including the mountains, lakes, and forests. I'm a strong advocate for experiential education and learning through direct experience and reflection, as I believe this combination creates a holistic pedagogy that offers amazing and powerful opportunities for learning and personal development. Join me on the journey of discovery and growth through the great outdoors.
